What’s funny about this?

No one can plan anything. And it’s going to cost U.S taxpayers billions. Weird sense of humor you have.

The deal would be the second the US has struck with a trade partner since Trump paused those sky-high "Liberation Day" duties, in addition to a pact with the United Kingdom. The US has also agreed with China on a framework to move toward a larger trade deal.

Trump's July 9 deadline has come back in focus in recent weeks as more countries struggle to get over the hump. Trump earlier this week said negotiations with Japan had soured, saying he would force Japan to accept higher tariffs of "30%, 35%, or whatever the number is that we determine." Notably, that proposal is higher than the 24% "Liberation Day" level.

Markets are down now. Americans are paying most of the tariffs.

Well Trump says that “we’re done” but who knows if it’s with negotiating or tariffs or what. Governing and policy implementation is hard.

Trump’s response to a question about 90 deals in 90 days.

“Oh, we’ve spoken to everybody. We know every. It’s all done. I told you. I told you we’ll make some deals, but for the most part we’re gonna send a letter. We’re gonna saying, ‘Welcome to the United States. If you’d like to participate in the greatest, most successful country ever.’ I mean, we’re doing better than ever. We have. I don’t think. And you’re gonna see these numbers soon. We’ve never had numbers like this. We’ve never had investment like this. Uh, we have more than 90. We’re gonna have much more than 90. But most of those are gonna be sent a letter. This is exactly what I said. Now, we’ve made a deal with United Kingdom. We’ve made a deal with China. We’ve made a deal. We’re close to making a deal with India. Others, we’ve met with, and we don’t think we’re gonna be able to make a deal. So, we just send them a letter. ‘Do you wanna, do you wanna play ball? This is what you have to pay.’ So, we’re, as far as I’m concerned, we’re done. We’re sending out letters to various countries, telling them how much tariffs they have to pay. Some will maybe adjust a little bit depending if they have a, you know, cause. We’re not gonna be unfair about it. And actually, it’s a small fraction compared to what we should be getting. We should be. We could be asking for much more. But for the sake of relationships that we’ve had with a lot of really good countries, we’re doing the way I do it. But we could be getting a lot more. We could ask for a lot more than what we’re asking for.”

Another TACO. No one takes him seriously anymore. It’s so predictable.

Apparently Bessent let the cat out of the bag and told some tv show that hardly any countries have responded to Trump’s shakedown letters.

The US already has trade deals with many of these countries and Trump is willfully violating them or threatening to. And that includes ones he negotiated like USMCA. Why would any country negotiate a new deal with him that he would just violate again?

Other countries know by now that this isn't a serious negotiation, that Trump doesn't honor any deals any way, and that day by day we get closer to his Presidency being over. This is all obviously going nowhere. The media and markets barely react any more (futures are even up today).

Our economy is shrinking and the new taxes tariffs add economic burden to the people who can least afford it.

Don’t Trump is still planning on imposing huge tariffs.

They’ve brought in $125 billion in tariff revenue so far and the stock market is at all time highs.

I thought it was supposed to be Armageddon and this was going to be worse than the Great Depression?

How much stock did administration insiders sell just before this announcement?

It wouldn’t work out well for them if they did because S&P 500 futures are at record highs this morning.
