The bailout of soybean farmers during Trump’s first term cost taxpayers more than the entire State Department budget.
He didn’t give them a bailout this time, did he?

Nah. They have already started cooking those numbers. I think the private sector ADP numbers and company earnings reports are better indicators of the market than Trump’s BLS numbers

They are not drilling. It's not 1980.

AI, crypto mining and data centers.
Which is why we need more renewable energy, and frankly the data centers and crypto mining should all be on 100% renewable/batteries anyhow. The average consumer should not be suffering for the high demand these places put on the grid.
Also, just simple population growth and the proliferation of electricity using things. There hasn't been enough new supply brought on, our distribution infrastructure is ancient, and some of the older generating facilities have been shut down.
AI, crypto and data centers play a huge role but they aren't the only problem. We all use more electricity today than we did in 1999 and our infrastructure and supply has not kept up. We need more solar but we also need more gas fired plants because battery technology is not ready and we don't have a distributed grid.
