10/7 + Hezbollah rockets, but Israel is “the aggressor”.
Out of control? Possibly.
The aggressor? Definitely not.
um. I think you just need to look at the body count on each side and it's pretty clear.
It’s not as simple as the body count. If more Russians have died in the Ukraine war than Ukrainians, does that make Ukraine the aggressor?
Ukraine isn't attacking into Russian land... yet...
Uh... yes they are. Ukraine presently occupies a significant portion of Kursk, Russia. But Russia started this war, and it's completely reasonable for Ukraine to defend itself even if it means attacking Russia directly. Same with Hamas invading Israel and committing all those atrocities. Israel is completely justified in attacking Gaza in response to the Hamas invasion.
Israel stole the Palestinians land. Israel has no justification to attack anyone.
Prior to 1947, Jews bought a lot of "Palestinian" land. With the formation of Israel, multinational agreements were made to give land to the Jews - at the time, it was a British protectorate. Almost immediately after that, the Arabs tried to annhilate and exterminate the Jews. The Jews fought back and ended up with more land than they started with because of those wars.
Told fabrication. Zionist forces conquered territory, killed their neighbors and declared a State of Israel. Between 1947 and 1949, 750,000 Palestinians from a 1.9 million population were forcibly expelled from Palestine. Zionist took more than 78 percent of historic Palestine by ethnically cleansed. You all destroyed over 530 villages and cities. Israel killed about 15,000 Palestinians in a series of mass atrocities. There are over 70 documented massacres. They did not buy out the Palestinians. Israel is the same as it alway has been - a terrorist state adopting much of the practices of the nazi state.
As Hillary Clinton said you don’t know very much at all about the history of the Middle East!
There was a photo display at my local library (I live outside the DMV) that included photos of the remains of villages destroyed by Jewish residents of Palestine in the 30s/40s/50s along with the descendants of the families that use to live there. There were protests from Jewish groups who also orchestrated a phone campaign calling the mayor's office to complain. The Library stood firm but the groups then stationed people inside the exhibit to tell visitors that the display was "antisemtic" and direct them to a separate exhibit focused on the Israeli hostages that was "much better art" (I went to the exhibit so first-hand experience).
To me, the reaction to the exhibit was very telling about the extent to which Israel goes to hide its history. I think the PP above who wrote that the early Jews purchased the land wholeheartedly believes that version of history. I'm not sure what the solution is but I think it lies in all people living in the region to understand and acknowledge their shared history before any path forward can be found.
It’s a gross conditioning to absolve Israel of its nearly endless history of sins.
The solution, at this point, must involve vast Israeli reform resulting in a 2-state solution where Israel makes concessions and reparations and BOTH sides are permitted to live in peace, and none of this “Israel left Gaza twenty years ago!” bullshit that gets peddled like it’s serious talk around here.
Israel gets to live in peace (assuming it finally chooses to do so with respect to its other neighbors) as the Jewish ethno-state (and it can drop the pretense of being truly democratic), and the Palestinians finally get to live in peace, too, on at least part of their land.
