She put her clothes on and wander the streets until she found a gas station. She went inside and asked the cashier if she could use the phone. She called her father who came and picked her up.

The story is awful, not only for the assault but also how in the world a 13 yr old girl found herself in that situation. Was she with friends? How did her parents not know where she was? This was in 2000 I believe so no cell phones or tracking then.

My current bf says he had a cell phone in 2000 when he was 13. I'm older than him so all I remember is a flip phone when I was starting college

I was a sophmore in college in 2000 and I didn't even have a cell phone!

I got my first cell phone in 2023, when I was 28.

I was a sophomore/junior in high school in 2000 and the majority of my classmates had cell phones. For me at the time, it was an “in case of emergency” device, i wasn’t texting friends at that point.
