They did in Afghanistan. They recalled their puppet from Ukraine in 2014. So, yes, they do retreat.

You have a country in mind? Some do, but most can't stay indefinitely in another country.
Yeah I have a second passport for an eu country & open ended Permanent residency for a third option not in nato .

There are street battles in Kyiv right now. The Russians' main objective appears to be killing Zelensky, who's on the phone constantly with world leaders, so they must know where he is.
They are floundering.
Russia of old would’ve just hit him without starting a war over it.
This is trying to save a botched op.
Morale must be shattered.
Nato needs to launch a counter offensive
So, yes, Russia can no longer just knock people off and expect the population to follow their "installed" leader. The US used to do this as well (same results). NATO does not need to get involved. Putin is delusional.
