That is untrue pp -- I don't think you have a DS at Landon

Landon parent here. They do occur and very little is done about them. But, fist fights are not frequent.

Are fist fights tolerated at Landon and how often do they occur?

David Armstrong did not officially assume Headmaster responsibilities until the start of the 05-06 year. Meaning he was there while George was there, but only for George's final year.

People seem to keep forgetting that Huguely also went to Mater Dei for 8 years (twice as long as he was at Landon), and Mater Dei is a huge feeder school for Georgetown Prep and Gonzaga.

Yes, it is.

Landon 2006 yearbook in hand.
Page 148 features David Armstrong, Headmaster.

Page 72 features George W. Huguely V. Senior page. One of his quotes:
" A coward turns away, but a brave man's choice is danger."
Euripies

Another quote from George Huguely's page:
"I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints."
Billy Joel

Landon yearbook 2005. See page 142. David Armstrong,
with no photo availible, "Came of Landon in 2004."

George Huguely can be found on page 124.

That's not accurate

Yes it is. He was named headmaster in 2004. George H was still a student at Landon.

I think 4 years is plenty of time to make some serious changes in the school's culture, seeing as it's an entirely new crop of kids in high school now who have come up under the new regime.

PP 3:01 The boy mentioned was and is still a Landon student. DS is in his class. He had his stomach pumped because he filled it with booze. You are correct that this incident didn't happen at the Landon dance. It happened last year.

One thing that bears recognition:

People slight Landon for the SAT scandal, the Duke lacrosse fiasco (despite the fact that it wasn't true, it still seems to be etched in people's minds), and now George Huguely. However, an important fact that people fail to recognize is that Landon has a different headmaster now than from when all of this went down. When GH attended Landon, when the Duke kids attended Landon, and when the SAT scandal happened, it all occurred under the tutelage of Landon's previous headmaster. Which is why he was essentially fired. Also, the school replaced their Upperschool Head + Middle school head.

Landon's new headmaster has done a really good job of trying to get the school back on track, mainly by bolstering the schools arts/music programs and trying to get back to the whole "renaissance man" approach. It seems inane to judge Landon TODAY based off of all of those incidents that reflect Landon of the past.
