Why are people doing crazy stuff over this? Why on earth would you LIE about another school board candidate? What is wrong with these people?
I saw that exchange, and we don't really know what the volunteer said. Based on Kadera's RTS campaign info, she is open to flex scheduling in the fall. Kadera would prefer a regular schedule, but she would be open to other options. Turner has said she only supports a regular schedule. So I think that is a difference between the campaigns. Depending on what the volunteer actually said, hopefully the information that was conveyed was true. But I'm not going to immediately jump to thinking that the volunteer was lying.

Try not to misrepresent things, OK?
Umm, all the middle schools in Arlington are the same -- its not like elementary or high school where there are any perceived or actual differences in educational quality.
So I'm not really sure how the former PRESIDENT OF THE MCKINLEY PTA (in my mind McKinley is the epitome of a North Arlington school) would somehow be considered better than someone who had the means to send her kid to a private school but chose to send them to Drew. Dislike the candidates for whatever the heck you want, but sending your kids to Drew is very very different from sending your kids to Kenmore. Miranda deserves credit for that.

I signed that dumb pledge but at its core the Arlington Democratic Party is rotting. I’ll vote who I want to vote pledge or no pledge.
Priddy and Goldstein are lifelong Southies. Torres is a carpetbagger, no idea where she lives, but probably along the R-B corridor like most child-free people her age, but she might live in the Pike corridor. BK is a Northie. I’d argue that while Kadera lives in NA, she has sent both her kids to Kenmore as transfers, and has an ethos closer to my Southie neighborhood than Turner, who lives in Green Valley and sent her kid to Drew for one year and then fled to private during the Pandemic, and whose biggest and loudest supporters are from the Discovery school zone (nothing wrong with them, I have friends with kids at Discovery and know many lovely families there, but it’s not SA, and the experience of the Pandemic was quite different for that school community and their families than most Title 1 school communities). Let’s not pretend that just the act of living in SA makes one a Southie. I’ll take a Northie who centered vulnerable families in both her thoughts and her deeds/service during the Pandemic over a Southie who solved a problem for her family alone.
This Southie voted her values and voted for Kadera.

Anonymous wrote:One of my biggest reasons for voting for Turner is how accessible she has made herself during this campaign. She has done so many "coffee with the candidate" events during this campaign (outdoors, with masks) so people can ask her questions directly and hear her views. She has done so even though she knows not everyone is a supporter, and that she could be opening herself up to some pretty unpleasant encounters (I personally witnessed her handle one with a lot of grace, kindness and empathy). One of my biggest issues with the school board for a while has been how difficult it seems to be to interact with them directly. The rotation of open office hours mean there are very limited opportunities to talk to a specific board member directly, and they tend to be unresponsive to emails. I am hopeful that Turner would bring a new spirit of openness and accessibility to the board.
Also, she and I overlapped at law school, and I remember she being really smart and sharp. I think she would bring strong critical thinking skills to the board.

Ugh. She sends her kids to a private school.
She sent one kid to private school after trying virtual for a semester, and wants to go back. The other kid is at MPSA. Get your facts straight.
