1) Which one, CA (a CTCL) or the one in MD?
2) How do you know?
in Maryland. They are cutting departments and majors. Know because it seems obvious and from people who are in higher Ed.
Did you know they’re also adding a neuroscience and a marine science major?
Yes I did.
They added programs in a desperate attempt to save the school which has had declining enrollment for the last 15 years or so. Not a good choice for a humanities focused student as they have cut art history and religious studies and are considering philosophy next.

One thing I liked about the half dozen or so CTCL schools I visited is that they had very few students like this person. Go Buccaneers!
So do many, many other schools. They just don't cost as much as most CTCL schools, are just as good, and people have actually heard of them.
I thought the appeal of these schools is that they cost half the price of a top 20 liberal arts college. Most of them give merit which brings the COA down to 40k.
Only if you’re good enough for top 20, in which case you go to the top 20. You’ll hear a lot of parents claim their kid turned down a top 20 for a CTCL school, but it’s rarely true.

Kids are hilarious. DS, c/o 2023, didn't like UVA during a casual walk through because it was "too dirty"??!! Still don't know WTH the means.
I still laugh at the post on DCUM from a parent whose child ruled out a school because people were "too tall."
My child crossed Bates off the list because the tour guide wasn't wearing shoes. (Toured in summer)
