Why give him a pass you wouldn't give anyone else just because he married a queen?
I agree. He's dead. Its also ironic the royal family has been forced away from their life of 'pomp and circumstance' for two years now - for weddings, funerals, births, and christenings.
He impregnated the queen multiple times and so the monarchy continued with her kids. He was like a stud horse. He had no other role to play.

Nine who absolutely will show:
The Queen
Prince Charles
Duchess Camilla
Prince Andrew
Princess Anne
Prince Edward
Countess Sophie
Prince William
Duchess Kate
Archbishop of Canterbury (religious leader)
5 other possibles. Eugenie and Zara both are post-partum in a pandemic. Meghan is heavily pregnant in a pandemic. I don’t think their spouses will show without them.
Harry HAS to go--with or (preferably) without Meghan.
Going without Meghan will help him talk to William alone. It could be a chance for the brothers to smooth some things over. They were very close to their grandfather.

Not this woman. I think she could live another ten years.
+100
Also they were living pretty separate lives since he stepped down with him primarily staying in another property (wood acre or something like that). I was surprised to see he died at Windsor.

And in the midst of this, grandson goes on Oprah to air his grievances with the family. Just Wow! An interview with Oprah surely could have waited.
Yes because Harry knew Phillip was going to die.
Oh, but their story HAD to be told...

Is this a joke?
DP. I am waiting for the British Embassy to announce if there will be a book of condolences to sign. If so, I will be there. The first television show I saw was the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. I have been smitten by Prince Philip since then. Let we Anglophiles have our day and our tears as they fall
We would certainly extend the same courtesy to you should one of the Kardashians die.
You're hilarious. My first chuckle of the morning.

Holy heck is this what you do for fun?
If it’s a private funeral we won’t know who attends.
If the Queen wants a big funeral then they will delay it.
Harry will be invited. Like the other American divorcee, Wallis Simpson, Meghan Markel will not be invited. Like his great uncle, the Duke of Windsor, Harry will arrive at the funeral without his wife but with all of his grievances.
His marginalization will be evident, just as it was with Edward
Actually Edward attended the funerals as an equal member of the family.
Members of the Royal Family follow the coffin during the funeral procession of Queen Mary, the wife of King George V of England. The procession is taking the remains to Westminster Hall from Marlborough House. Shown are (from left to right): Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (husband of Queen Elizabeth II); Edward, Duke of Windsor (son of Queen Mary and former King of England); Henry, Duke of Gloucester (a son of Queen Mary's); and Edward, Duke of Kent (a grandson of the late queen's). If you read any biography of the Duke of Windsor, you would see chapters of complaints about his unequal treatment at the funerals of Queen Mary and King George. He was invited only as a sop to the British public who wanted another chance to flay him after the abdication. He was particularly chagrined at King George’s funeral to know that the monarchy would be lead by his niece who he held in low regard because if her mother’s antipathy toward him.
He wasn't stupid. Of course it would be lead by his niece. It wasn't going to skip to the other brother unless she died.
Seriously what did he think was going to happen? Elizabeth had kids by that point and a sister. He wasn’t going to get another bite at the apple when his brother died.

The best PR move for the BRF is make a show of warmly welcoming Harry and family solidarity. I'm not sure they're smart enough to do that, though, given the bone-headed moves they've made since the interview.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Funeral will be lowkey. Not as 'we just escaped the fire with our lives and grandmom's old dress' lowkey as Beatrice's wedding but still...lowkey
They could do a small family only burial now and a larger celebration of life type event later. I think a lot of families have been waiting like that throughout covid.
