They can take Point of Rocks bridge.

600 is not very much especially if some of them are doing round trip. I look at it as a novelty. If I lived upcountry and needed to get to VA on a rare occasion I might take it but it doesn't make a lot of sense from downcountry at all.

Uh, the traffic data suggest practically no one (upcounty or downcounty) uses it. 600 vehicles a day, and many of those vehicles crossing twice? Give me a break.

Live nowhere near it and have no dog in this fight but I like the ferry and that it is old and low tech. What’s not to like about it? I dislike that the farm owners are gouging this business just because they can. They may have the legal right but that doesn’t mean I need to like them. I never gave that farm a thought before this but now I would never patronize anything there and if I had the chance to vote on something counter to their interests I would. Just seems like a well bankrolled pleasure farm bullying the ferry for tons of money.

I have enjoyed the ride across the ferry and acknowledged its historical relevance.

But, you can't operate on private land and not pay a fee or for the licensing.

Someone can buy it and deem it historical with cultural heritage and no one can really touch it.

Except to get from Leesburg to the Point of Rocks bridge requires a long trip on the narrow and congested Route 15. Local residents along Route 15 have "lobbied" ($$$) to prevent its widening. Sure, the ferry is primitive and quaint, but it really helps me lower my blood pressure compared to either driving up to Point of Rocks or (the horror!) the American Legion Bridge at rush hour.

I love taking the ferry. Loudoun is in an uproar over its loss. Pretty sure something will get worked out to bring it back.

And Point of Rocks bridge is literally faster and free. This problem is easily solved and it’s kind of amazing the “ferry” ran as long as it did.
