Maybe they can’t delay the trial but don’t want to argue the case without a full investigation of evidence and a proper autopsy? If they go to trial and lose because of a lack of evidence they can’t re-try him because of double jeopardy. The body isn’t going anywhere , they can refile in 2023.
I wonder why they think they’d ever find the body. And if they do would the remains really be informative of the cause of death?
