To update the thread, I complained to the principal. Who defended their schedule
And said there were no requirements and every school could make their own requirements. I complained to the regional principal supervisor. Who told me I didn’t “understand” the learning plan, would not admit that there were any minimum rules for amount of teaching time, referred me to the packet and the TV channels (!) and told me I should ask the principal to explain the schedule to me better. The principal claimed that office hours counted for synchronous learning. I contacted the assistant superintendent and she had her secretary email me back a generic email linking the Tv
channels and the packet and—get this—telling me to discuss with the teacher and principal. By the way the messages I received from both administrators had identical paragraphs which makes me think they are using a form email for parents complaining about learning time.
So for the people saying “stop complaining on here and contact FCPS”-there you go.
Has anyone successfully contacted FCPS and received any useful results?

An hour of synchronous actually seems like quite a bit of you are talking about actual “teaching to” a class of elementary students online. If I think about the math and language arts blocks during a typical school day I don’t think an hour of the time is spent in front of the entire class of students.
well, there is back and forth between the teacher and students, too. it's not just a teacher lecture.
