GDS is refreshingly low on people who care if anyone outside of DC knows their school![]()

Not necessarily. Ivy admissions are not a given for any of the Big-Three. Not as many GDS students get admitted to Harvard as the school’s reputation would suggest.
Neither school is the deciding factor for elite college admissions - that is primarily the result of the parents’ pedigree. Both schools have a disproportionate represents of parents from elite colleges, hence their admissions records. Self selection is always a strong factor in preserving the status of the elite and thag is exactly what the Big 3 is about.

For better or worse, Sidwell has the notoriety that comes from having Clinton and Obama kids there. You can go anywhere in the country and talk about Sidwell and people know the school. That is simply not true of GDS
If I’m going to pay $45000 a year for a school, I prefer to purchase a brand name that means something
Eh, depends on which college you went to. If you went to Harvard/Yale/Princeton or Amherst/Swarthmore/Williams, you knew about Georgetown Day. Coming from CA, I went to one of the competitive SLACs and definitely knew of the DC prep school scene and all the schools that inhabited it. See the thread on Pomona in the College forum--if you haven't heard of Pomona, that says more about you than about the school.

Prep has two. What is your point?
But which school has the most alumni and parents who regularly advocate before the Supremes? GDS, I’d wager.
Anonymous wrote:The boys crew club team at Sidwell was a student initiative. It was not "culled" by the school in any way, shape or form.
