Years ago, after their home goods line launched, I recall them saying they were slowing down the blogging as they wanted to protect more of their personal life. I figured their home line, books, etc. was a legit business and they had gotten too big to need to depend on the blog.
What happened since? Do they still have a home line? Did they run into money troubles maybe? I agree that FL house is a weird choice for people who love house design.
They still have a lighting fixture line at Shades of Light. Not half bad but priced low end.
I think it was a combination of money problems (at one point they owned four homes and probably were overextended) and needing to get away from Virginia (there was definitely something going on with Sherry a while back - some combination of eating disorder and mental breakdown - she was scarily thin and her instastories were so weird. I'm happy to see she's put on some weight in FL and appears normal weight now). I think most of their product collaborations are done - a while ago they were posting links to their Wayfair stuff on sale and being sold off on Amazon.
they moved last summer to Florida summer to a super small house with barely a kitchen or a living room.Anonymous wrote:Can someone catch me up on their FL move? Did they move again? And what is this about condo buildings next door? And why is this house so tiny?
I totally agree! She keeps buying more furniture! They had 4 houses worth of furniture. I don’t get why they had to buy a stick of furniture!! I mean all of their furniture is from Amazon, ikea or target, so it’s crap furniture anyway.Anonymous wrote:She's soooooo annoying and super weird. Also, all this talk of minimalism and they keep buying more and more and more. How many pieces of furniture have they been through for that little sitting area at the front of their house?

Have you SEEN the swipe ups in their instastories? They are totally making money off of their content.
Who on instagram does not do swipe ups? And they do it bc they get thousands of messages from people asking to source everything, so why not make a quick penny off of it if they can? They are, after all, taking the time to curate and develop content for our enjoyment and inspiration. They're basically creating free ads for these companies to sell their products, so why not? You would do the same. And in the past they have done giveaways on their blog using the credits they accumulate from affiliate links. Not only that, they've shared the secrets again and again for how to start a successful blog. I see them as transparent and not willing to chase every partnership and sponsor that comes knocking on their door like so many other influencers that advertise any crap they're paid for.

If it bothers you so much why not just stop following them? Clearly you're drawn to them or else you wouldn't be so interested in the personal details of their lives.
To me this is a couple that has integrity and principles in an Instagram world where everyone is trying to shove a product down our throats. They are not chasing sponsors, trying to sell us dumb shit they get paid to promote, or trying to get a million social media followers like a lot of other grammers out there piss and moan about. Case in point: YHL is the ONLY home blogger I know that has given consistent attention to BIPOC business owners and bloggers since everyone hopped on that bandwagon in June to preserve their reputations and fell off shortly thereafter bc people stopped caring.
Y'all really need to stop -- especially going after their kids by saying they don't get out much and live a sheltered life. How dare you? I would have killed to have as much attention and affection they show their kids when I was growing up.

PS: Give some grace to the OG. Jon and Sherry have been sharing their lives for 8+ years...what mom doesn’t need a break in 2020?!
