And Jon is one to talk about immaturity. The point is that even if what he said is true it is a highly inappropriate thing for him to announce on national t.v. about his 15 year old teenagers. Those kids have a right to their privacy. Jon has always lacked good judgment and it seems as though nothing has changed in that regard. He is a moron.

I am really happy for Hannah and Collin. Jon is in what seems to be a really stable 5 year relationship with a woman who has welcomed the kids with open arms. They seem to live a very normal life now with friends hanging out, no cameras in their faces, and they seem to have a very good relationship with Jon and his girlfriend. Her two kids are young adults and still very close to her.

Time will tell which kids turn out to be the most adjusted and normal but it looks like Jon is doing a great job.

I do not blame Kate for putting Collin in the psychiatric hospital. She must have thought that her son desperately needed help. I'm sure she considered this placement to be temporary and that Kate planned to have Collin return to live with her once his therapy had been completed.

Most psych hospitals are short term. A few weeks to stabilize. She hid him away at a residential institution and planned to keep him there till 18. Google their relationship. She was alway scapegoating and targeting him.

But it is also unusual for a child to be placed in a residential treatment facility for 3 years with no treatment plan that includes moving back home and to do that there would need to be ongoing contact with his mom and siblings. Unless the child was a serious danger to his family and it doesn't appear this child fit that scenario at all. Also, it is really, really expensive to keep a child in full time residential care with some places not accepting self pay and insurance isn't going to cover a 3 year stay. A parent is lucky to get 30 days.

Jon was interviewed on Dr. Oz and he explained that Kate had the benefit of legal help paid for by TLC network. I can see why she was able to win in court so often as she had a huge, endless legal arsenal at her disposal.

Jon on the other hand looks a bit bloated these days...

If doing a once a week, one hour reality t.v. show afforded me and my husband the opportunity to quit our jobs and SAH with our *8* young children, 6 of which were babies...I would do it in a heartbeat. Not even a question.

I honestly have no idea how they were managing before TLC came along.

As bad as Jon and Kate were/are (and I think they're both awful for different but equal reasons), the Busbys from Outdaughtered are even worse because even if the show ends, Adam and Danielle will continue to exploit their children with Instagram, Facebook, etc. Jon and Kate were just the tip of the iceberg.

No, most people would not handle it that way, because they aren't vicious to their own kids that way.

Stressed out, overwhelmed people who are shouldering the weight of an enormous responsibility all by themselves sometimes say and do regretful things. This thing with the teddy bear was not good but I think Kate was beyond frustrated with the lack of common sense in giving 6 very small children chewing gum. Kate was running a tight ship on a strict budget and the stupidity of it all just set her off.

Jon often did stupid things just like this and I think that Kate just blew her top.

She wasn’t alone or by herself. She had an army of supportive help.

Everyone blows up occasionally but Kate’s been filmed multiple times going off the rails over the years over little things. She’s a control freak who can’t manage her anger. She bullied Colin. Then Hannah, which is why she’s now living with her dad too.

Tight budget? TLC funded EVERYTHING. Date night, outing with the kids, everything! If TLC didnt pay, they didnt go.

Kate was feeding and clothing her children on her income from TLC. She couldn't afford to be replacing items that got carelessly ruined.

And, of course, there was a reason she was doing the reality t.v. show - it paid the family's bills and made their lives easier. She had 8 kids to support, that is why they did the show. It's not like she could have just gone back to work as a nurse and supported her large family on that salary.

The second guessing being done is unreal. None of us have been in her shoes and if we were I'll bet that we would have chosen TLC over the likes of Jon.

She could have kept her regular job. To expect 3 year olds never to get clothing dirty is absurd. Yes, she could have supported a large family on it. She didn't want to. I would choose my kids and children's father any day over a TV show. That is such a horrible life for those kids.

Daycare for 8 kids, huh? Before TLC came along, Jon and Kate were killing themselves trying to work their regular jobs. Jon worked full time in IT during the week while Kate stayed home with the kids and then Kate worked as a nurse on the weekends (I think she had long shifts, too). Their lives were beyond exhausting. Then TLC came along, suddenly both Jon and Kate could quit their jobs and SAH full time with their kids. They had trips and other perks plus lots of extra sets of hands with the kids.

I do not blame Kate for not just walking away from that deal.
