Not sure if it was actually part of the MPDU program. But the income requirements were basically the same.

Gaithersburg High School won't be affected?
The CIP mentions Crown HS for Gaithersburg HS, Wootton HS, Quince Orchard HS, Richard Montgomery HS, and Northwest HS.
King Farm will all be at Gaithersburg. Guaranteed. It combines the HOA and neighborhood, brings in higher SES to Gaithersburg, decreases overcrowded RM, plus it is closer to Gaithersburg. No brainer.
Sell now before your real estate plummets.
"Guarantee" does not mean "I am certain that this will happen, based on what I saw in my crystal ball."
Nobody knows what will happen until it happens, and that's the reality.
I think everybody realizes this is the best case scenario to increase G high income levels and decrease numbers to RM who is over capacity, whose highest ES is College Gardens. They can’t touch Fallsgrove since it would make Ritchie Park below capacity by too much and splitting it would just cause the same rift as King Farm. I agree with PP

i dont know if i would call king farm a "very nice community"
Not sure what you are looking for in a community but many people spend a lot of $$ to live there!
lot of section 8/mpdu housing and a much more crime than you would expect from such a "nice" neighborhood.

I wouldn't be smug considering the federal government is investigating MCPS for discrimination against Asian American students. The preliminary complaints and evidence was enough to make this a class action investigation which means it is SERIOUS.
Here we go again. The poor Tiger Moms don't understand that if we wanted a school full of Asian kids we would all move to China. But we didn't. We don't care how smart your kid is.

Stop all the magnet buses too. The whole process is ridiculous, especially since all schools are so large and offer AP's and plenty of classes. Just get a gifted program in each ES and MS. It would have to be cheaper than the bloated administration overhead with the all these special school application process and the all the bussing.
"Just."
They have this now. It's called the enriched classes. They're really wonderful. It's like a magnet without the bussing.

You're tempting fate.
LOL...I am not worried in the least.
If they can bus Kensington kids all the way from Einstein to WJ, they can bus anyone anywhere.
That's just 4 miles. The county is 500 square miles.
That seems irrelevant. Distances are a linear measurement. A square that is around 22 miles across is also 500 sq miles. Point being is 4 miles is significant in terms of moco busing.
Who cares! If they wanted to bus Wootton kids 10 miles to put an end to segregation at the W's I'd be for it.
This is so stupid. Not only is it an environmental issue, but the traffic would be terrible. And it is not right to ask a K student to get up an extra hour earlier to get on a minimum 45min bus trip. This also removes the option of outside activities and ES kids would be walking home after dark in the winter since ES gets done 3:25pm or 3:55pm without tacking on a rush hour commute across the county and multiple stops. You have an over 8 hour day for 5 year olds just to get more rich white people in poor schools to mask the problem and test scores that MCPS sucks at teaching?
It isn’t the fault of kids or families or even MCPS that the county does not build affordable housing everywhere. Making criss cross pattern all over the county with no real neighborhood school appeal, will just decrease volunteerism, donations, PTA, night activities people won’t drive to, and more. And I say this from a very diverse public in Rockville, not a W school. It won’t work and it is a huge cost and time issue.
