All those great FCV teams you speak of were formed when it was a two horse race in the area in ECNL between FCV and McLean. In the last two years ECNL has doubled in size in the area as well as DA having three of its own clubs. To act like a location change on top Loudoun, BRYC, and VDA getting ECNL along with MU and Arlington having DA it is a crowded market place.

And add on top of it ECNL taking over VPL with possible Pro/Rel in the mix down the road within ECNL kids have more and more reasons to stay at their club than they have with moving to FCV.

Just look at FCV's ID numbers now versus 3-6 years ago. They are dropping. You don't buy stock based on past performance you buy it based on future potential. FCV is competing in a very diluted landscape and while that doesn't mean they will not be competitive in the future, it will only be because everyone is affected by the dilution. But FCV is no longer a destination club. Kids are more than ever staying at the club they started at.

Did you not read the entire previous post -- She made All-met as a freshman against teams featuring ECNL players. I can't recall any player recording that many goals ever and definitely not as a freshman.

If she scored 40+ goals at Sidwell she would show well against ECNL/DA talent her age.

She is a unique athlete and the previous poster who called her a Unicorn is correct in that assessment. In fact it was stated that ONLY unicorns could play only HS and get noticed. She fits that bill. But, in terms of soccer she has not gone up against top DA or ECNL teams to really judge her dominance.

In terms of the Gatorade award. She was awarded for DC. Gatorade awards kids at the State level, so even in that regards she was only going up against kids in DC not in VA or MD. Sidwell also prominently displays that they have had 16 athletes receive such recognition so clearly Sidwell uses this award as a platform.

She made All-Met you morons along with some of the best ECNL players in the region, none of which made All-Met as freshman.

You think just because you forked out tens of thousands of dollar in a legal scheme to buy your DD's access to Di soccer, the only way someone else can do it without doing the same is if she is a "unicorn." But a 5'11" national team baller? that's a heck of an athlete. Back to the soccer, how many of the team schools in the DC private school conference are primarily ECNL based talent?

LOL, that's right. All you fools paying $5000/year for club soccer are so misguided. Just have your DD pay HS instead and save your money. Look at this kid who goes to Sidwell Friends for example (where tuition is $40,000 per year). Too funny.

Also, she's 5'11", and fast. 40 goals in the DC High School league is not hard to believe. Doesn't make her D1 material, and she didn't "beat out" the YNT player (from Bethesda), b/c as others have said, the Gatorade "Player of the Year" award is not really a best player of the year award. Putting aside the fact that it is also based on academic achievement and "character" (community service), you really think Gatorade is sending scouts to high school games all over the country to evaluate players? LOL they must be deeply undercover, hiding in the bushes and stuff.

Do all the coaches in the league vote on who the best player is every year? That would mean something.

Regardless, the affect on college placement of the decision whether to play both club and hs, or just club, can be debated. The idea that playing only HS - and not club - is a realistic path to playing in college, is simply laughable.

Unless of course you're a 5'11" freshman with good speed who scores lots of goals against very weak competition. In that case sure, you might get some goober college coach to take a chance that they can "train up" the raw athlete into a real soccer player. Good luck with that.
