And bad ones should be moved on asap, which means former teacher comments should be taken with a healthy grain of salt. Not dismissed out of hand, but fair to consider the source.

Assume you mean "bitter" here. I'm not a teacher, but I can tell you that having great ones who are excited to go to work and teach your children is pretty key to the whole private school business model. But "just an employee"? It is hard to find good help these days, but still.

Maybe it does. I've been around the private school circuit, but I've not see (or heard) it to Bullis levels anywhere else.

Maybe not with sports, but it absolutely does with money and even religion if its a religious school. Even in publics families are treated very differently. We were in private and never should have left. There are not a lot of affordable $25K or so schools that are not religious sadly. I'd look at Bullis if it were more affordable. When we went to public it was clear some families are the favorite and disagree with the principal they go after your kid for really petty things. Mine got in trouble with a group of kids and he was the only one punished (which backfired as kid asked the principal to have the same punishment daily as he hate lunch and recess so missing it was a treat).

As a former parent, I've never understood the "public you pay for" comment. The difference in the treatment of recruited athletes and the children of connected/wealthy families vs the rest of the student body at Bullis is disgusting. I don't think this happens in public schools, but yes, I'd imagine that the class sizes are larger there. Everybody picks their balance of pros and cons in selecting a school.

Most parents would at any school. Nothing wrong with Bullis or any other school but many of the schools, including the big 3 are highly over rated. Bullis is great for some kids, and not so great for other, just like any other school. Most schools have their share of issues, especially leadership.

I think it is normal to defend "your" school from what you perceive (rightly or wrongly) as an attack. I think it is abnormal to not be associated with the school but want to attack in it this fashion. I get bitter teachers venting but this "public you pay for" stuff is just pathetic.
