Agreed. Also a lot of angry Sidwell defended ranging from circle to smug to offensive.@
The college counselor who is referenced by the family as being discriminatory is AA, by the way.

No wonder Tom Farquhar left the school. After his outburst threatening the family, I am surprised he retains a job in ed.
Everyone seems to be ignoring this point, and instead focusing on what a pain in the ass and entitled her family is, and how she was not an URM.
I’m sure that TF was frustrated with the parents. No one has a right to be at an independent school, and clearly the faculty had had it up to here with the parents’ sense of entitlement, litigiousness and unrealistic expectations about college choices for their daughters.

She’s not a URM. He father is a doctor. She was a “lifer” at Sidwell with plenty of advantages. And the the parents got all hissy and entitled when she couldn’t easily use an affirmative action trump card to vault ahead of classmates with similar good, but not outstanding, records.
You don't understand URM from the college's perspective.
So the daughter of a successful doctor from Nigeria should get a leg up to college but not the daughter of a light-pigmented McDonalds worker? Crazy, isn’t it?
Both will get a leg up. And the daughter of a doctor from Nigeria will continue to face bias throughout her life. That’s not something money and education can save you from. Just look at the comments on this thread.
