Some of the School Board members want to do a comprehensive review of policies around school boundaries and boundary studies before committing to something as detailed as Janie Strauss proposed. But when the School Board decided earlier to fund additions at Justice, Madison, and West Potomac, but not McLean, they implicitly concluded they were going to move some kids from McLean to Langley, which was expanded as part of its renovation even though Langley's enrollment has been declining and is projected to decline further. The School Board can spend more time thinking about a better process, but they can't have it both ways: at some point, they have to move forward with the McLean/Langley boundary study, start building an addition at McLean, or both.

At a Jan. 14 work session, School Board Member Jane Strauss called for a limited boundary study to move students from Longfellow Middle School and McLean High School to the nearby Cooper Middle School and Langley High School attendance area.

For those who were planning to attend the meeting at McLean tonight, FCPS has cancelled all activities on school grounds scheduled for this afternoon or evening due to the expected weather conditions.

Colleges and Universities do this sort of crap to each other as well. They steal mascots, vandalize each others schools around games. Break into stadiums and spray paint things on the field. Steal signs... all of this stupidity isn't just a HS thing and no HS or University can claim they are above such foolishness. I've been at several college games where chants were made, cursing, finger waving... there are always some rowdy and often drunk morons. I'm sure neither McLean or Langley are totally innocent in all these shenanigans - so it's stupid to try to ascribe blame to one or the other on a thread meant to focus on school boundarys not who spray painted what on someones property etc.

If they were responding in kind, they could just as easily have spray painted the Langley rock. But no, they chose to vandalize and deface the school. Showing their true colors, literally.

If kids who live near the Loudoun border can handle the bus rides to Langley, kids can handle the shorter commute to Langley from the north side of Tysons.

no land for a HS or MS, there is one ES planned.
