This!
Exactly! I’m very protective against unnecessary (painful!) medical procedures for my baby.
When that baby grows up to be a man it will be his decision to undergo painful procedures, be it tattoos, piercings or genital mutilation. Why do you feel entitled to make those decisions for your sons?

I find uncircumcised men dirty, as do a lot of women. it's just putting your son in a position where his peers and lovers may question the whole thing...
You sound ridiculously ignorant. Like the kind of person who would think black ppl are dirty because their skin is dark. Ew!
It IS less clean, that’s not debatable. Uncircumcised penises are more prone to fungus infections STD etc bc harder to keep clean. That’s where the tradition comes from!

Because it's way more complicated and painful for adults. My DS was circed in the hospital and didn't cry once (the pediatrician used local anaesthesia). Nor were there any issues or any pain during his brief recovery. Conversely, I know three men who had it done as adults because of issues they were having, and it was painful and unpleasant.
That it is more complicated or painful is not a reason to take the choice away from your son! It is his body, his health and his sex life.
+1. Also, can people stop whining about how much it hurts adult men? Get over it. It's not MAJOR surgery. Why are men such wimps? Women's private parts go through so much worse!
There is absolutely NO analogy to this regarding women. Has someone ever snipped off part of your clitoris?Such a dumb argument. Giving birth is not an analogy. Womens bodies are designed to give birth.

There are a lot of men who are very upset they were circumcised. It's obnoxious to dismiss their experiences.

It's not that dramatically different. Certainly it's something an adult man could choose if he wished. This is just an excuse.

1. Babies do get anaesthesia. 2. Babies don't get erections.

Since my husband does not want him to have it and my husband isn't, I am going to err on the side of not circumcising him. However, I would like to talk to a doctor about it. A couple of posters have said not to talk to my OB about it - then is there a type of doctor I should talk to about it just to answer any remaining questions I have? Like a urologist?
Yes. Urologist.
US urologists are notoriously pro-circ; European and Latin American urologists often find the speed at which their US colleagues recommend circumcision to be troubling. There is a profit motive.
I have many French friends and this is true.
