Mthey are mistaken. It was never a non event. Models yesterday had it more in the 8-12 range and today seem to be back up on 12-16.
Where are you getting these high snow totals? I saw 2-5 inches on channel 4 news for the DC area.

Depends on the school system. Larger school systems (FCPS) take longer to get all of the routes cleared/checked.
