Excellent question. Now let's see how long it takes to get a response from one single black person on this forum...
So 13:06 refuses to respond. Thank you, 13:06.

Cops lie like shit to cover their ass routinely.
There are 750k+ sworn LEO in this country. I don't think it's fair to take the WRONG actions of a few and say it's representative of the entire force.
That would be like saying the rioters last night are representative of all black people in NC. It's simply not true and making sweeping generalizations only worsens the situation.
Tell that to the posters in this thread arguing that blacks deserve to be regarded as animals and viewed as criminals because of the actions of a few.

Open carry is legal in NC, and concealed with a permit is legal. Displaying a gun in NC is not enough on face as a stand alone fact to warrant arrest, stop and frisk or even an imminent threat. So for argument's sake, let's say he did have a gun and not a book, does that even matter, because it is questionable based on the released statement from the police officer that being threatened because the civilian has a gun doesn't met the standard. In fact, in NC, if a civilian just has an open carry, and is doing nothing else wrong, a cop doesn't have the right to say drop your weapon. I think this particular case is more complicated, I wish they would release the video.

Open carry and brandishing are two different things.

One would think you need to consider the individual situation.

Why aren't Asians doing this? I don't see rioting in Korean/Vietnamese communities. Latin folks either. The black community isn't doing itself favors by doing this.

At the time police said that Charles pointed a gun at officers in Brownsville and then fled the scene.
New surveillance footage shows the teen was not armed as police shot at him during the chase, and was surrendering when further shots were fired. A lawsuit is pending.
