This is not accurate w/r/t union teachers. Central office > any one principal

Does the PTA provide benefits and 401Ks to the teachers? What about unemployment insurance if they are fired? Sick leave? Do they get the same ongoing training as those that are dcps employees?

But should it be. I don't think so. Those teachers are not accountable to the principal and further they are working without the same benefits as their co-teacher.

The people who are in my child's classroom, who have master degrees in education and years of experience as certified teachers in DCPS, and who are giving instruction and assistance to my child, aren't "teachers" because there can be only one "teacher" in a classroom?

You have one teacher, who likely has the features you list above, and she has an aide, who is not on the DCPS payroll as a teacher. She was hired as an assistant, with PTA funds, and you know it.
If you're so cocksure you have two full-time, salaried, union teachers in your child's Janney classroom, as described by this position listing, why don't you tell us what grade that is? And while you're at it, specify which other classrooms at Janney have two union member, full-time, credentialed teachers? Because I'm sure yours isn't the only anointed classroom at Janney, right?

I suspect you are trying to be sarcastic, but I do want to ask the PP: how many Janney parents have you actually met?
I am not a Janney parent but live in the neighborhood, and I think what really bothers me about this Janney parent bashing that has recently flared up on multiple threads is the hypocrisy of not recognizing it for what it is. You guys are probably (hopefully) all condemning bigotry against Blacks, Jews, Muslims, gays, etc., yet things can't get nasty enough when it comes to Janney parents. Jonathan Rauch, in The Atlantic, once said, "Neurotic hatred of the political class is the country’s last universally acceptable form of bigotry", and the same seems to be true about Janney parents on DCUM. I guess everybody needs an outlet for their hate.
This idea of jealousy/hatred/whatever would make more sense if it weren't for the fact that Mann, Key, and Lafayette neighborhood are all actually completely or partially wealthier than Janney. True, the wealth of those neighborhoods leads many of those families to private schools. More importantly, it seems to lead to more confident individuals who have less of a need to smear their vanity and insecurity all over DCUM. And when you do that, sooner or later you open yourself up to ridicule. The chickens apparently have come home to roost.
I didn't say anything about the motivation for the hatred, and it really doesn't matter at all. The point is that hating on a group of people, a few of whom may be obnoxious but the vast majority of whom are most likely good people, is bigotry, period.
And it's even worse when you do it based on what you read on DCUM, where it's impossible to know who is real and who is a troll.
