The one piece of (slight) humor thus far--Shepherd's cafeteria has apparently started tweeting:

Profile pic is of where the "fire doors" from the basement-level cafeteria lead--a narrow passageway littered with debris and construction ladders, and a locked gate at the end (supposed to be unlocked during the day, but who knows). Basically, unsafe egress for kids and staff in case of emergency.

Clearly the Mayor (more likely Kaya because she's said it before) is saying FU to Grosso by ignoring his list. For whatever strategic reasons he's clawing back what items he can.
After watching the process closely for the last three years, I agree with this assessment.

SIGH.
And Grosso supports moving forward with it. What a hack.
Ellington is a citywide school (Grosso voters), Shepherd is Bowser, Todd.
You can't pin Ellington on Grosso - Bowser is the one who increased Ellington's budget by another $30 million (total budget $178 million, or $300,000 per student!).

I completely agree the Ellington project is stupid and should be reconsidered entirely. It seems like almost everyone involved in DC education thinks so. I will never understand why it's not stopped. Must be a huge campaign backer of Bowser and other politicans who wants it.

What gives Ellington so much political pull?

The Ellington renovation is really affront to all taxpayers in DC.
Yes you can - if Grosso is going to get into re-prioritization then everything should have been on the table.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Help the slow girl, where is the priority list?
Also, was Shepherd reclassified on the list after their phase I?
The list is brand new and puts Shepherd behind about three dozen completely renovated/rebuilt schools.
