SWS only made 6 offers in PK4 last year. Two Rivers Young made 44 before school started. Seems like a good bet.
Last year was also 2R Young's first year, so I wouldn't necessarily think that last year is all that much of an indication of what it'll do this year. That being said, I do think #5 will get you in there. We've enrolled and are hoping to get into another charter closer to our house. If we do (and our numbers are good) that'll open up a PK4 spot.
Did you attend Young last year also, or did you get into PK4 via the lottery this year? If the former, is location the only reason that you are leaving?
We did not attend last year, we got in through the PK4 lottery. We would be very happy to attend, just that it will be logistically harder (but doable) than some of the other options nearer to our house.

No reranking doesn't improve your chances of getting in.
It just changes which schools waiting lists you would be dropped from if you accept a match.
Put or keep the schools you want most at the top of your list in your order of preference.

Sorry can someone help, I am not understanding this and am applying from out of the country (we are moving in this summer). If our top choices in the lottery are very high (like in the 250+) then, would it help if I re-ranked a higher number school up to my top choice?

I wouldn't be surprised if you got offered a spot at Young. Among other things, Two Rivers Young students got transfer preference to the 4th Street campus, so some students may have gotten spots at 4th Street through the lottery and be moving over (due to 4th Street being a more convenient location vis-à-vis their home or parents' work or whatever).

Our school has said they won't move the list at all until after enrollment deadline. (which may be it'll be 10-20 in one day)
Other schools move them in real time.
If you are matched from a wait list you will get an email from MySchool DC.
