Just want to say thank you for sharing your story. It's an important wake up call for many of us with younger kids. It's obviously become a lot more competitive than when I was applying to college, and knowing that parents need to be proactive and not just leave it to the school to take care of things -- even at the "best" privates -- is very useful information to have.

Good for her! My DD has similar stats currently at NCS and she (we) are fine with it. She is having the time of her life and she is HAPPY (most important thing to us). We feel that my DD is prepared for college, no matter where she ends up, and has had time to explore other interests to make her a well-rounded adult. It's been a perfect fit.


Good for her too! And you! The school is a great place. That's why we sent our kid. Simply saying that after four years there, we thought she'd have more competitive options, especially with a 2310 and an 800. One more time - IT WAS ON US, NOT THE SCHOOL. Care to share a school similar to the one where your DD will be matriculating?

Good for her! And you! I hope the Orange win tonight. I know a lot of good people from the 'cuse. My kid didn't apply there, but given her lack of success despite her wonderful test scores, I doubt she'd have gotten in.

We are being trolled. I had a 3.2 kid at Ncs with less strong test scores and she ended up at Syracuse. The kids who are sub 3 are the bottom of the barrel at Ncs. They end up at sewanne, southern Methodist university, elon/college of charleston etc.


Wait a B+ average from NCS gets you Syracuse??

Just have through. B+ with comparable scores and ECs gets you Ivy caliber scores from NCS

The Good News

Your high SAT/ACT score proves your academic abilities and intellectual aptitude. While it’s possible to have a high GPA without being super smart (since some schools inflate GPAs), it’s almost impossible to get a high SAT/ACT score if you don’t have significant intellectual ability. Colleges know this.
