Since smoking is perceived as low class these days (though people of every income level do it), I feel like all of the over the top drama, irrationality and hypochondria is really just people trying to scream "I'm not low class."
It is a low class habit. As well as weed smoking (and every other drug addiction). But tobacco smokers are labeled as trash, weed smokers "recreationalists" , heroine and pain killers' addicts are "oh, it's an addiction, they are poor things, we have to tolerate and help".
Why is this happening?
Because "recreational narcotics" are promoted these days - weed industry is peeking up the speed with great $$$$ perspective, and tobacco is demonized more than ever, which is a part of every product replacement campaign.
Looks like weed is becoming new tobacco, I read a lot about the benefits of it as pain killer etc., and there is almost no mentioning of weed been 40 times more toxic than tobacco and of kills brain cells.
But people are stupid buying in all three trends. Idiots.
