I agree with you, OP. While I don't miss the crime of the 80's as a result of the crack epidemic (don't even get me started on my feelings on why black ghettos were targeted), I so hate how sterile DC has become. It lacks soul, heart, grit and is now some lame Banana Republic ad.

And how gentrification pushes out poor life-long residents and how some gentrifiers are snobby assholes who think their desires should trump those of their neighbors. Don't get me started...
