OK, please do so, and then post the similar questions. Also please explain how you know that they are from the same test that MCPS uses.

NP here. You are hilarious. Do you expect people to do your legwork?

No, I expect that if somebody wants to persuade me that they're right, and the math questions on the test are super hard, and the kids won't be prepared for them because of Curriculum 2.0, they should actually provide some of the math questions on the test, instead of telling me to Google "for similar questions".

I am not trying to persuade you. Just based on the information provided in the test booklet it is clear that the test is tough and not a format these kids are familiar with. 50 problems in 20 minutes is challenging.

The questions have not been changed. The scores will be lower though. It's a very hard test.

We are assuming that the tests have been changed because of the curriculum. I have asked this question to MCPS time and again, and I have not heard anything back.

Now, I also know that MCPS types of "questions" have been circulating for sometime. You can choose to believe or disbelieve that. And no, I will not be sharing it with anyone.

It is very easy to figure out. Not sure why you are unaware of the tests used.

If it's easy to figure out, and you're aware of the tests MCPS uses, then how about sharing your information? Otherwise the discussion is like this:

You: I know something you don't know!
Me: Oh, what?
You: I'm not telling, it's a secret, but you're dumb for not figuring it out.

Suppose you look at the test questions MCPS posts on line, and pick out some questions that fifth-graders in compacted math will not know how to do, but fifth-graders who have been prepped, enriched, and tutored will know how to do?

They only post 5 questions and they aren't that hard but the questions that I have seen elsewhere that are supposed to mimic the test are very hard. And the time limit is tough.

Curious, where did you see those questions that are supposed to mimic them?

You seriously think that someone will give u this info?

I didn't think she would give any info, because what she is saying is not true.

There's a difference between getting a little familiarity with the type of questions and prepping to the point that the child's results don't reflect the chIld's educational needs.

Paradoxical pigeon sh_T. Akin to advice not train or exercise for your athletic contest since the familiarity and confidence this breeds will gain you results that don't reflect the child's athletic needs.

Some uneducated folk are plain dumb. They lack any life's preparation.

Haha. That is certainly not necessarily the case. If the child is not in need of that type of instruction, it won't help him and it could set him back. What is important is for kids to be taught in the way that best suits the way they each individually learn.

My kid does need that type of environment. We are prepping at home.

If your child needs that environment, the test will reflect the need. If the point of prepping is to make it appear that he needs that environment, whether he does or not, it is a waste of time. A kid who ends up in that environment because of faking the need by prepping for the test will not truly benefit from the program.

No, the point of prepping is that my child has never had to do the tasks (particularly in two sections of the test) that are required so I think he will do better on the test if he has experience. For reasons I don't want to go into, he is a child who will do better if he has some familiarity. He does need the environment and I am concerned about how he would fare if he had to return to the home school environment.
