I don't get the "can only have one kid" argument. We are doing just fine. We can't go out to eat or take weekend vacations, but I would rather have more than one kid than do that anyway.

Just curious- how much are you paying in daycare? Cause we make about the same and when I think about having more than one kid in daycare, I just can't make the math work. Just one sucks up a quarter of our take home monthly income. An infant, so it will go down slightly soon, but still.

I feel bad that some commenters on this thread were criticizing the mom who takes her child to Luray and Baltimore for a vacation.

I agree that this is perhaps a modest vacation, but who cares if that is what she likes and her child likes. It reminded me of a funny story that a friend told me. She and her husband have taken her sons (ages 10 and 11) on nice trips to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Colorado (nice ski resorts), and Europe. They have done Disney World several times, and have done a cruise. She recently asked them what has been their favorite vacation, and they both immediately said "Great Wolf Lodge."

You guys will have two pensions, though, when you get old. So that helps.
