The Charmaine I knew was as white as they get.

Isn't Charmaine a black name?

I mean so is Champagne Glitz, probably.

Oh, I was the Shannon Grace poster but I really like Charlotte, too! I told my DW about Champagne Glitz to Charlotte Grace and she just said "Wow."

Glynn, Glynne or Liz are what I would suggest for the middle name. Charmaine Glynne is not a bad name and fairly close to her birth name. But I would definitely talk to her about it.

I knew a Charmaine growing up. (I'm not sure of the spelling.) Or what about Charlotte? Charmaigne Liz or Charlotte Liz? Good luck.

Or Charlotte Grace. Keeps the Cha- at the beginning. Grace is a lovely middle name.

Shannon Grace -- it's like Champagne Glitz after it's been through the classy-o-tron.

Could you involve her in the new name? Let her know that you'd like to honor her with a new name that goes with her new last name and you have picked Anne Mary or Jane. Which of those would she like, then use Crystal (or whatever her stripper name is) as her legal middle name. Maybe she'll be excited about the new name because you let her have the responsibility of choosing it. That's the best I could come up with. Kind of a rough situation. Good luck.

wow- I tend toward the don't change camp and I think changing is worth it-- at least change the 'glitz'. What about Chaney as a nickname? I think Chanell is a perfectly nice name. But if Chanell is Nelly then you can go with Chaney for Champaigne.

FWIW- we are also adoptive parents from foster care. We changed middle name, not first-- but she was with us for so long with her first name that we just got used to it (and her name is one that has been named in this thread as a 'stripper' name.)

Well, I think Ainsley is nice and doesn't invite the connection to "pain", but if you don't want the Ain sound at all, lean on the "Cha". Shannon? That's Champagneish...

We're looking to get AWAY from that "ain" sound in pain. So any variations on that are a no-go.
