I believe they will have a shuttle from somewhere in Columbia Heights to the new location. Not sure if the plan has been finalized, but this would be a great option for families in Columbia Heights or north of that.

It is a ten minute walk to either Shaw or Convention Center. It is about the same to NY Ave, but a little more difficult of a walk.

It's about a half mile to the NoMa stop on the red line, but it's a pretty rough walk because you need to cross New York Avenue and North Capitol. Best route is to cross New York Avenue on First Street NE, then left onto Florida, then left onto P to cross North Capitol. Definitely feasible, but on the outer range of feasible. There are also the 90, 92 buses that come down Florida from the U Street Metro that get to the new location pretty quickly.

They should have some gardening areas on the property, they are working to help create a community garden, there are fields a couple blocks away, the Macmillan park is about a mile (within walking distance for them), and the arboretum is a short busride away.
Is Mac Millan park the water treatment place you can't enter or is there another one?

Try Georgia to left on Illinois, go down to Grant Circle and come out at 5th, take that to Michigan Avenue and right on First
But that water project sounds like a monkey wrench into every good detour

I took the obvious way the first time around leaving the house at 7:45 both times. Went south on Georgia Ave, left on Missouri, right on N. Capital. Two days later took Georgia all the way down to Florida, took a left (turning light is too short) right on 1st (backed up). 12 minute time difference. We will have to leave at 7:30, but want to ensure DS gets his rest. I guess 15 minutes wouldn't hurt. A neighbor did inform me it's hit or miss in that area.
