I’m your age and I’m dating a guy who is 64. When we first met I thought he was in his early 50’s given he looks much younger than he is with a full head of hair and he is very fit. He’s retired so he has plenty of time for me which is very nice. Sex with him may be the best I’ve ever had which definitely helps. Long term the age difference may be more than I want to deal with but for the time being it’s not a problem.

OP here. I'm actually a woman in my early 30s and have an ex that is 50 who is very similar to what this PP described above except he makes a good salary even by dcum standards. I broke things off because of the age difference too. I also have a Match profile and get lots of messages from men in their 50s, so I was wondering if it was more common than I thought.

You don't need to go above 40. There is no need.

Broke that rule right away, separated, 54, hostess 30 came on to me… sex for a few months, was nothing short of mind blowing.

Another poster with young parents (married right after college, had me at 22). I never saw men near my father's age as dateable, for two reason: First, my parents were/are very young looking for their age, and I couldn't date anyone who looks their age or older, and secondly, I don't really see how an in-law relationship would work out in those circumstances.

I find that hard to believe, but I can only speak to my own preferences. I wouldn't date a man more than 10 years older than me unless he were very rich, very good in bed and didn't have kids. I could see a few of my friends falling for a sugar daddy type situation when we were in our early to mid twenties, but not in our late twenties or later, as we're now established in our own careers and have enough experience with men to know who's good for us....

When I was 38 I fell in love with a 54 year old. He is now 66 and I’m 50 and still have the hits for him. He’s not super wealthy but UMC and works for it. It’s about the way he communicates. And he is excellent in bed.

Some men are just good with women, they have the touch. My mom temporarily broke up with her long-term boyfriend when he was 74. He was an emeritus professor at his (mid-level) university, not rich, not highly paid, reasonably respected but far from famous. Within a few months he was dating a 28 year old who swore up and down she wanted to take care of him in his old age. I mean, she was really head over heels. He ditched the 28 year old when my mom (68 years old at the time) decided to get back with him. He had always been very good with women. I personally think that the guys I knew who cleaned up with women in college, etc. could easily find women 25-30+ years younger than them if they were single again, while guys who weren't ever that popular with women would have a tough time even if they were rich.
