Kristina and Tarek are the worst. Fake, fake, fake. So sick of people like that getting airtime pretending to be someone they are not. They wish they are Chip and Joanna, authentic, which they are not. They are pretending to do construction work, which they are not. I can't stand them. And if she really did have an affair they shouldn't be rewarded with a show. I stopped watching years ago. Dana

I miss the old shows where they actually had practical advice for decorating for those who were not getting a crew from their tv show over to renovate their house.

I a tired of the renovation shows and all the fake drama that goes with them.

On a slightly different note ... did anyone else see the Tiny House marathon yesterday? It was very interesting, especially when they had one segment going back to revisit some of the folks from the first shows. One family had a toddler with another on the way in a 250 sq ft tiny house. Apparently one of the issues is where to place the tiny houses once they have them. One couple talked about the fact that they had had to move their tiny house 3 or 4 times in the space of a year. It made me wonder about where someone would put a tiny house in the DC area ...

There are many, many gay people there. They just forced to hide in the shadows are in fear of their lives because of the hateful rhetoric that the Gaines support. It is not something I take lightly.

I personally just find them annoying and don't watch, but I am not sure that they actually do discriminate on their show or if we just assume they do based on the pastor at their church.

Yes, there was an article about it being their and the producer's views a while back.

And yet I've seen several interracial couples on their show....interesting.

Why is that surprising? Chip and Joanna are themselves an interracial couple.

I am not denying that this is true, just had not seen this article. Could you find it and post? I would like to read it.

If they are actively discriminating, that's a different ballgame. I thought most of the recent chatter about them was about their pastor and church. Which is concerning, but not guilt.

What's the show where Tanya Nayack redecorated homes called? That was one of my favorites!

The Gaines belong to an anti-LGBT church- as in pro-conversion therapy and anti-same sex marriage. Do the Gaines share their pastor's views? We don't know because the couple hasn't made any public statements about this issue.

However, Fixer-Upper is a HGTV show and the network has a clear policy on inclusion and discrimination. In 2014 (not sure about the exact year), HGTV canceled a show because the hosts were actively homophobic.

If the Gaines do share their pastor's views, will they abide by HGTV's policies? Even if they don't share their pastor's views, including a same-sex couple on their show would probably create problems for them at church. I think they are hoping this issue never comes up. Considering that they are based in Waco, Texas, that may be entirely possible.

Granted, they don't need the money after their explosion in popularity and endorsements and lines and such, but I've never met a small business owner who turns down $30K (which I believe is their GC and design fee) because 2 ladies will be sleeping in the bedroom down the hall. Its not like a bakery with the wedding cake BS, I find that "everyone's money is green" trumps a whole hell of a lot of conviction when it gets to be enough money.

I posted that, and don't feel the world must revolve around LGBT at all. I'm a heterosexual Christian. I think discrimination is wrong. Period.

NP. Opposing active discrimination is very different from asking the world to revolve around something. How come you don't understand that?
