I don't get it. Is it hard to pack a lunch that doesn't all come in one box? This task is just not so overwhelming that I opt to give my kids the nastiest available product instead of spending 5 minutes doing it.

I was thinking the same thing. I pack my kid's lunch every day and it takes less than 5 minutes to make a sandwich, put some fresh fruit in a baggie, grab a yogurt, add a couple of cookies, fill up her water bottle and throw everything in her lunch bag. It's not that hard.

What can I say? I guess I'm just a shitty mom.

Don't sound so defeated. Pick yourself up. Dust yourself off. Make your child a healthy lunch. You can do it!

Never. Not once.

It has to last unfrozen for months. But, you really shouldn't feed your kids any of that crap. It amazes me that people don't take care of their children better and feed them this crap.

It amazes me that some people care what others feed their kids. It amazes me that I grew up eating that "crap" and everything turned out great. Good health, average weight, played multiple varsity sports in high school. Relax, it's going to be ok if your kid eats chicken nuggets.

My kids' preschool doesn't even allow that crap- for both nutrition and environmental reasons.

My son would always beg me for them since so many kids brought them to school. One day I bought him one and he it was awful (except for the Capri Sun). They are incredibly salty not to mention expensive.

Yes, my daughter prefers it when I pack our own crackers, cheese slices, etc. No need for Lunchables.

I used to send one once a week for lunch (I thought for variety) until my daughter told me she didn't like them. So now I don't buy them anymore.

NP here. DS started eating lunchables everyday (started k this year). I fully admit it's a combo of convenience and wanting to make sure he eats enough to have the energy to get through the day.

DS doesn't like juice so he brings a water bottle every day and I pack him fruit in addition to the turkey lunchable (grapes, strawberries or oranges). Is this honestly so terrible?

I'll have to give some thought to his lunches for camp. Maybe with some planning I can do what others suggested and make my own lunchable with higher quality meat and cheese.
