This is a national number, so I would expect DC to be higher than the averages. If the market is becoming saturated and that number is moving down, it will take a few years to show up on these stats.

That is a common misunderstanding. Healthcare provider salaries are actually lower in larger cities (i.e. DC) then they are in rural areas.

The boldest is a false statement. Rural hospitals pay much lower than city hospitals. It's a numbers game, rural populations are less so they see less patients therefor, need less staff.

Look them up on Guidestar. Most senior staff are listed on the 990s.

If you're thinking entry-level or manager level--they pay crap. But the benefits are usually pretty good.

DH was an analyst for a small bank out of college and made $40K, then he became an analyst at a big bank and made $60-80K, then an AVP for a mid-size bank and made 95K and now is at one of the big banks named above and is on commission in the business development side. His co-worker made over $300K but we are just hoping for $100k the first year. His base is $36K.

Is there a reason everyone isn't running out to become a Nurse Anestheitist?

I think that number is inflated.

It's a bit inflated. The market is saturated and nurse anesthetists are making closer to $150K. A few years ago they made much more.
