The post wasnt about the teachers departure. Rather, it was meant to illustrate why the principal was equipped to be responsive. Ultimately all mcps principals are bound by the same game book.

Me too and it seems pretty irrelevant at this point since the teacher is no longer there.

Getting back to FSES. I am very pleased with the school. The teachers my children had last year were excellent. I also like the principal and asst principal. The admin is very responsive. For example, it is very easy to call or set up a meeting with the FSES principal, and I have found him helpful and not defensive.

It does make me wonder what it was but as long as it wasn't something that endangered the children then I suppose it doesn't really matter and none of our business. Of course MCPS would have notified parents if it was something like that.

It's not teasing. The thread was heading in the direction of praising one principal for being responsive and another as unresponsive. I merely pointed out that principals are only really equipped to respond under certain circumstances. That's all anyone needs to know. And generally speaking, if a teacher leaves by choice, then everyone knows about it (pregnant, ill, transferring, new career, etc.). When a teacher disappears and no one is talking, then that's another story. Does it really matter what prompted it? She's gone, so it's irrelevant at this point. You just want juicy gossip, PP. You should either get a leadership role in the PTA and volunteer in the school several times a week, or buddy up with a gossipy teacher.

^^
By the way, I'm not mad that you did not tell, it's the arrogant way you did it.
Wasn't contrite - it was teasing

If you were concerned about not being right -- you would have refrained from posting anything.
Instead you dropped some cheese, waited till the rats came running and then snatched it up and ran off claiming to be good to tell.

Pp, what makes you so sure you know why the teacher is no longer there? Maybe it was his or her decision to leave.

And you are missing the point, PP. The principal at otes can't toss a teacher who is merely subpar, but the principal at flora singer was able to toss a teacher midway through the year....not because she was merely subpar, but because of a more serious issue. Understand? So he wasn't being more responsive. Rather, he was simply doing his job (what he had to do given the circumstances). Get it? Same situation at otes or any MCPS school would have prompted the same result. Now do you get it?

That was the entire point.

Admin at FSES is (in my experience) more responsive than OTES admin. This has really gotten sidetracked to be about how much control they have over firing a teacher. There are many ways to be responsive that have nothing to do with firing anyone, and there are other ways in which OTES admin is less responsive than admin at other schools.
