I rigged up (with my son's help) an air horn just inside the lid of the can. When the lid was lifted up, it went off, LOUD. (Thank you snap circuits).

We heard it at 7am, raced to the window to see my neighbor scooting away with his dog, looking stunned. AHAHAHAHAHA

I don't mind if he poops I my yard and the owner bags it! But owner should not leave turds in my yard for my kids to step on.

We had a longstanding problem with dog walkers leaving bags of dog poop in our trash on the street in trash day. They would put it in there after the trash had been collected, and those smelly bags of poop sat in there for weeks if I didn't fish them out and put them in a bigger bag. Sometimes they opened up, too. Had to wash my trash can out a bunch of times because of those inconsiderate, bought less dog walkers.

We finally taped a friendly sign asking people not to put their dog poop in our trash to the inside of our trash can. No poop since then.

Do you all live in apartments? Why can't the dog shit in your yard ?

Does nobody put the dog poop in the toilet and flush it? The sewer system is the best place for human poop and dog poop.

Yep. We always walked to a public trash can or walked all the way home (even miles) with the poo because it's rude to put it in someone's trash. It makes the whole can smell like poo sometimes. My dog, my problem.

If I saw someone throwing dog poop in my trash cans, they would soon find unbagged poop on their door step. Is it really that difficult to take the poop to your own trash can? Sometimes small bags get left behind and I have no intention of keeping leftover dog poop in my bin until the next trash day.

no you cannot throw your dog shit in my trash. I continually have to wash my trash can because the small bag falls to the bottom and it doesn't get thrown in the trash truck. if you can't walk with the bag back to your house then get rid of your dog or move to the country. the best was this morning when someone through the bag in the my trash bin and the bag wasn't even tied. would that person like it for me to throw my feces in her/his trash bin. its the same thing. dog owners need to realize they are being uncivilized.

if your city owned trash can is on city owned property, I will comply with the city laws by throwing my dog's excrement in the bin.

I have so little trash that it may go out once a month, and usually just grab the bag from container. When dog walkers put poop bags in after trash pick up, it gets really horrible. - Stinky and maggots. They even walk up my driveway to do this.

Those of you who have dogs and think it is ok to throw dog poop in my trash can are simply rude and lazy. more than once the bag does end up at bottom of the can or breaks and when trash gets picked up it stays at the bottom. I have had to clean the can with bleach to remove the awful smell. yes it is a million times worse than normal trash smell. when you choose to have a dog you must also deal with all the unpleasant parts. YOU should deal with that NOT ME. If you find it too bothersome to carry the bag back to your house then get rid of your dog. And no I shouldn't be happy that you bagged up and didn't leave it on the ground. Scooping the poop and throwing it in your own trash can is the expected thing for you to do not the extraordinary. Be responsible adults; you chose to have a dog and you must deal with everything that goes along with it. And while I'm here, I will also add that in addition to throwing the dog poop in your own trash, keep your dog on a leash when out of your house. The neighborhood is for everyone to enjoy not just for dog owners. Be respectful of others.

I'm glad this thread is resurrected every so often. Put your own damn dog poop in your own damn trash, you inconsiderate nincompoops! And if I see you put it in mine, don't be surprised if I leave it on your doorstep or somewhere else on your property, where it belongs.
