The entire pre-academy program is a giant steaming pile of garbage. Here are a few things to consider. 1) if you are PA2 you will never make the ECNL team. Never. Don’t believe the hope they offer you. 2) when U13 rolls around the club prefers outside players to inside players all things being equal. It’s a tacit admission of the failure of their own club but they’ll never see it this way. 3) the training is crap, the PA teams are consistently underperforming expectations. Arlington has the potential to be a great program because it is so big but the inexperience and uncritical carelessness of the people running this program in particular is a handicap. 4) the program and its director are extremely susceptible to enterprising parents and show an obvious amount of favoritism that detracts from overall team performance and cohesion. This may be true at all clubs but Arlington is no different in this regard even though the director tries to show distance from parents. There is a small group of parents allowed in the back room and it shows through the veneer. 5) PA2 exists as a funding mechanism for PA1’s dead-end dreams.


On the whole, sure the PA program is not great.
But why would you expect your PA2 kid to make the ECNL team?
They would have to be better than all the PA1 kids and all the kids trying out from the outside.
Instead of whining, have your kid get better or move clubs.

separate...along with larger field space priority, PA1 also has an extra day of practice that the other teams dont get

I guess it has to be 2015s PA2 if not PA1 but 5 2016 PA1s where dropped to PA2 due to 2015s dropping down. I am almost sure there are 2015s PA1 kids dropping down as well from what i have heard but either way the the U11s that are 2016s are getting severely impacted. At the end of the day you are either good enough or not and one age group will not change that over the long run.


Several PA2/Red and maybe one from White have moved down and jumped to PA1.

You sound… bitter.


This may be true on the girls side but on the boys side at least one pa2 player has made ecnl the past 2 years. I think unfortunately the pa1 parents all assume that they are going to be on ecnl the following year not realizing they are going from a local/regional team to a NL team where kids from other local/regional teams are trying to make it as well. You are no longer just taking the best kids from Arlington but the best kids from several other local teams.

+1 this is right on point. Development is a joke and Arlington looking and giving outside players offers first to fill out the PA1 rosters with the exception of a couple girls on the team is the perfect example of a large club masquerading as an academy. Its so funny to see PA2 or Red team parents get so excited when their team beats a smaller clubs top team only to realize years later their kid is playing RL at best (Red players only shot at RL is if a bunch of PA2s leave and even then a long shot with outside players coming in) while the ones they beat are playing at a higher platform.

They definitely aren’t from this year’s 2015 PA1 but I’m sure Arlington is trying to imply they are. Other specifics aside, that group is all pre 8/1 bdays.
