Schools don’t “release waitlist decisions.” They maintain a pool of kids, sometimes literally many multiples larger than the pool they admit, so if their yield is way off from expectations they can fill the class. Emory offers admission (historically) to approximately 5% of those waitlisted and Georgetown approximately 6%.

No, as PP mentioned, technically until August 1 though most will be by mid-June.
For the sake of clarity, and sorry to be a rain could, for the more competitive schools, waitlist admission is a roughly 1 in 20 event. It happens but rarely. You should absolutely assume that your kid will attend the school to which they have already committed and move on. If the waitlist happens, great, but 5% is not a chance high enough to command focus and attention.
