Monday and Tuesday were full snow days. Wednesday was a 2-hour early release, hence the .5 snow day. Thursday and Friday were already scheduled days off for students, so they did not count towards our snow day count. By the end of Monday, we will have used about 3.5 of our 10 snow days, which leaves way more than enough for another storm.

FCPS loves to find reasons to close.

Take it down a notch, Midge. This one is not on FCPS. The Virginia legislature is possibly proposing changes to the state constitution and to redraw district boundaries. In order for that to happen, there needs to be an election. I don’t know if this has been approved or not. IF it is, there has to be an election either on April 14 or 21. There may be some “hot” topics in the changes to the constitution which could bring the crazies out.

The good news is that if there is an election on the 21st AND districts are redrawn, there will NOT be an election on June 16. There wouldn’t be enough time to make new ballots. It would be a regular school day.

At this point, it’s all up in the air. If someone has updated information from the state legislature, please post.

Nobody is required to clear the walks from snow and ice. I do recommend using their reporting tool for sidewalk issues of any other kind. I have reported brush overgrowth and repairs needed and they always get fixed.

Also I suspect the 1/2 snow day counts as a full day because it’s counted as a full day of school because we force children to eat lunch at 10am.

These schools and bus stops should have been cleared on Sunday and Monday when everyone else was cleaning their driveways. If you wait 7 days after sub freezing temps of course it’s going to be a block of ice. I don’t get the logic of doing nothing to clear the school areas all this time. It’s embarrassing. We should get out tax dollars back for this week due to incompetence.

It needs to be planned before the snow days. Maybe in the future it would work.
