Great, then cross that one off your list. Move along.

Though their approach makes sure there’s a huge mass of kids who are very behind. So it’s pretty difficult to get bad grades there 😉

That's not UVA. That's U of San Diego. https://nypost.com/2025/12/03/us-news/the-shocking-rise-of-gen-z-college-freshmen-who-cant-even-do-middle-school-math/#:~:text=The%20UC%20San%20Diego%20example,November%20study%20released%20by%20faculty.

It’s true everywhere that’s test optional. But the faculty at UCSD had the guts to publish a detailed report.

I'm frankly shocked it has taken this long.

There are plusses from the universities standpoint for not requiring standardized scores. It gives them more latitude to admit who they want without it impacting reported stats (e.g. can aid diversity), it results in higher published stats vs. test required, and it probably results in a higher number of applications.

Yes, eventually. The better question is when will they resume requiring either SAT or ACT?

Yes.

Nearly all universities will soon drop T.O.

Well, I hope it happens for the coming year and not the one after!

U of Texas. Austin just dropped it. UVA’s board has it under consideration for fall of 2027 but should do it for 2026
