Her speech made me tear up a little. Liberty and prosperity and the statue and Bruce, oh my!
Spanberger's speech made me tear up. We've got a badass CIA agent mom in the Governor's house.
Spanberger touched on the historic nature of her victory, which will make her the first female governor, following 74 men. Her husband, she said, told their three daughters: “Your mom is going to be the governor of Virginia. I can guarantee you that those words have never been spoken before.”
Her speech was great: Spanberger took one of the few swipes at the Trump administration in her speech when she talked about the furloughs and mass layoffs affecting thousands of federal workers in Virginia. “Virginia’s economy doesn’t work when Washington treats our Virginia workers as expendable,” she said. “And to those across the Potomac who are attacking our jobs and our economy, I will not stand by silently.”
