No medical professional who wants to keep their medical license would support this. You are happy because you lost weight. great. but own that you did it starving yourself. And before you go on about “eating 700 calories isn’t starving yourself” it is when you are walking 30k steps a day which puts you in negative calories not even accounting for the calories we burn in a day by just existing.

It is what it is-An extremely unhealthy and harmful way to lose weight. But yah-of course it works. It worked because you were in a severe calorie deficit.

what exactly is unhealthy about it?

Did you read the post you're replying to? Because that summed it up, sweetie.

I am 52. I was fluctuating within normal BMI range for about 10 years till maybe 2007? then I first gained around 10-15 pounds I couldn't get rid off despite what felt like herculean efforts, then I got pregnant gained weight, lost some weight, then pregnant even more weight, lost some etc, through 3 pregnancies, and then added more than 20 lbs around covid. so the last stage alone (200-ish) lasted for 4-5 years i think. i was avoiding mirrors, photos and scales so i am not even fully sure.

And walking 30k steps a day burns way more than that so you would be losing several pounds a week at that rate which is also not healthy (unless of course you are like 600 pounds at the start).

I’m talking from a place of also starting a health journey several years ago so I know how long certain steps take etc… Walking 30k steps takes more hours a day than a typical person has. So you definitely don’t have a job or don’t have kids etc…I would bet you are lying about multiple things but the bigger issue is what you are doing is very disordered. And sure-you will be thin but you will also end up in the hospital. Good luck.

Taking control of your health is admirable but lying about it or even worse-advocating for extremely unhealthy ways of losing weight is definitely not.

I am just telling my story not advocating for anything. Yes I have a job which requires a phd, which I also happen to have) and 3 kids. I was losing maybe 3-4 lbs per week initially but obviously that has slowed down quite a bit now. I was afraid to weigh myself on day 1 but at some point in a recent past I was 208 in the doctor's office. That was my highest official weight.

How is that relevant? Oh, right. It isn’t.

Yes, starvation leads to weight loss. News at eleven.

Do people think anorexia means eating zero or something?

OP here. I don’t have anorexia. I am now 130 lbs and I eat 1000-1100 calories. My October steps were 23.4k per day. I also do weight training 3 times per week. I am full of energy and very productive.

Where are you walking to get 23k steps a day? That’s 11 -13 miles a day.

I live near pike & rose so I would walk from there to downtown Bethesda and back. i use Bethesda trolley trail, then Georgetown road. typically I walk maybe 1/5 to 1/3 of steps around my house. I prefer to walk outside but weather is often a problem.

for the past 2-3 i have been truing to have one meal (around 500 calories - sometjin i really want to eat like say a cheesecake) and binge eggs etc for the rest od the day. i’ve been fairlly succesful with that - no overeating but my calories are up. food noise is not a problem right now but I do feel like I could fall off the wagon you know. I sue ChatGPT almost every day to log food and steps and we talk about it. that helps.

has the food noise gotten worse at this level? i believe you said it was hard before at 1k+. or is it different now? still binge eating only?
