Aberration? Look at SOS the worst by a mile in top 25. Rankings are just arbitrary numbers until the playoff results show who can actually compete. Majority of this team was together to lose 10-0 last summer in the playoffs so all bets are off until they can punch a ticket to Richmond.
1. Not a Union parent, but the Rankings App incorporates SOS into the team ranking...that's how the algorithm works.
2. VA teams have a disadvantage at Nationals due to it being in the ECNL off-season for VA. That's a fact.
3. The 10-0 game has been beat to death. It's one game. And this team is a lot different this year due to Brave/Union merger as the top 2010s from both teams went to FVU (see current high ranking).

They matter because it will work that into the algorithm, and it will affect both teams ranking. Also, while it seems like 5 and 43 are really far apart, in the ratings world of 2000+ teams per aga group, they actually aren't. Finally, one game can go either way. It's the overall compiled data that is important and why the rankings app is useful.

It's tough to combat that becaue MA is so weak, but neighboring BSC has a #6 SOS in contrast and despite being #25 nationally, they have always out performed their ranking at the playoffs. Wish this Union team the best, they have certainly performed as the best team at this age group this year! They are a much nicer group of girls than BSC, VDA and ARL too so lets see if they have the mean streak neccessary to play to that top 5 ranking this summer.
Lets hope they do not choke again as they are about to repeat the same mistakes as last year. Rumor has it that CW was adding one of the well connected 2011 girls they sent last year to replace the 2010 girl that was hurt. Meanwhile this 2011 girl is leaving the club to VDA next year.
Are they trying to win or not?? They have a few 2010 girls that joined from NVA and other clubs that have been practicing with the team for a while and much stronger and they are playing games not to send her with the team.
