To the person who is sad that so many NMF are going to schools that they wouldn't expect....
I'm happy to see this trend. Unless you're wealthy, the Ivys and other fancy schools are often (not always) not a great ROI. Smart people know this, and people are less and less blinded by prestige. It feels like one way folks are finally getting smarter.
In engineering, you'd be ridiculous to pay a huge amount of money to go to Cornell over huge merit aid at say UMD, Penn State etc.
Go DMV NMFs for making smart decisions!

I agree. The top ranked publics do not offer NMF scholarships as well. My kid was a finalist and is at UVA.

I’m in several Alabama parent groups and have seen nothing concerning. Alabama is 60% OOS and my kid is headed there from FCPS. There are a few Nova/DMV parent groups too which have been helpful.
Stevey Joy Chapman is on the cheer team - she’s the adopted daughter of the singer Steven Curtis Chapman and she loves it there.
