Democrats don't want illegal immigration. Biden and Obama deported many more and legally, than Trump.
Democrats supported border reform bills that would address the many structural issues that exist. The GOP has tanked the bills every time they were offered, mostly to keep people like you angry. Sadly, their ploy worked.
This. Abortion used to be the issue republicans wanted to keep on the table. They had opportunities over the 50-year run to overturn Roe v Wade, but they didn’t want to lose their single-issue voters. But as public opinion on abortion started to shift, they knew they just needed to get it done and move on to their next boogie man issue.
And, to the original pp, do you realize what a small and rare problem trans athletes are in schools? Why shouldn’t it be handled locally? Why shouldn’t school districts be able to make the decision? There are so many variables, so shouldn’t it be on a case-by-case basis? Why do you guys want every aspect of our lives to be controlled by the federal government?
You need to get that hardly anyone agrees with the agenda that men should be able to self-identify as women. The fact that only thousands, not yet millions, of mentally ill men and boys have taken advantage of your dangerous policies changes nothing. Your policies are vile and you don't belong in power until you stop pushing them.
The thing is, in the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness, no one cares what you think. It isn't harming you. You live your life and let them live theirs.
Nope, sorry, try again. Every society gets to decide what's acceptable and this society is in the process of tearing down all of the madness you have introduced to make it very clear to you that transgenderism is not acceptable. Cry about it.
There was a time when being gay, or being black, or being Asian or being a woman could have fit into the sentence you just wrote. Maybe look in the mirror.
Yeah, blah blah, boo. You guys already tried analogizing between your sexual fetishes and race and nobody bought it.
Uh, maybe look at arrest records for who actually are the deviants and have strange fetishes. They aren't the trans people. More likely some southern or midwestern "pastor" who is also a MAGA.
You're on the right track. They are all overwhelmingly men, like your dear "trans women." Men are a demonstrated danger to women and girls, hence why we segregate certain spaces by sex. Your attempt to override that is a deliberate effort to endanger women and girls in service of your ideology. You are a bad person.
This is exactly the argument used by some Muslim countries to mandate wearing of hijabs and exclude unaccompanied women from public spaces. I assume you agree with that as well?

I always thought the “Don’t tread on me,” was in reference to tyranny, but you keep telling us that it’s in reference to trans.
So tyranny is actually fine with you folks.

That said, this time around when Trump won, my reaction was... "meh, whatever, we'll get through it." Not the outrage like I had in 2016. A part of me felt like the Democrats kind of deserved to lose, the DNC has been so cringe and awful in recent years, and though I personally lean left, I felt like the Dems had overreached on a bunch of woke stuff that most Americans don't care about. That, and a bunch of people I know who are immigrants and people of color had soured on the Democrats and had become Trump-curious for a variety of reasons, and I didn't want to be one of those whiny white liberals who thought she knew better than anyone else. On top of it all, Trump 1 wasn't as horrific as I thought he would be, he was mostly embarrassing and clownish, but the economy hummed along. His foreign policy was dumb but didn't cause outright disasters just yet. All in all, 2017-2019 weren't terrible years for the average American. So I didn't join any marches or protests or sew any pink hats or rant on social media. I figured, well, he's pushing 80, he's kind of nuts and also just lazy, maybe he'll spend his whole term just golfing and tweeting and nothing will happen.
I had no idea how wrong I would be. How horrible things would get and so quickly. It's so much worse than anyone ever expected. I am truly afraid. Everyone is worried for their lives and livelihoods. Everything is bad, everything is a mess, it's so obviously an authoritarian oligarchy and it is no longer crying wolf. It's absolutely unbelievable. I thought American democratic institutions were strong enough to withstand a madman and his cult, but apparently not.
They didn't lean so far left. Their leadership is generally left of center, normal liberals, and not progressives. You are buying into the BS if you think Biden, Harris, Schumer and Jeffries are "so far left" - they are not Bernie, and Bernie and his flank are not the leadership of the party, though Trump is certainly making AOC look damned good right now.
Then, my dear, you are truly stupid because Trump told us what he was going to. You should have paid attention!
What more could she have done? She voted for Harris and campaigned for Harris in a swing state. That does not sound like a stupid person to me.
That said I agree with OP. I think Trump is awful and I blame the Democratic Party for leaning so far left that they lost the middle and even middle right who would have voted for Harris.
I blame those who voted for Trump and didn't care what it would do to the country.
Me too. I also blame the folks who thought it would be wise to nominate the one guy in 2020 who could fumble The White House back to Trump four years later. The Dem Party platform and/or leaning too far left was not the cause of their 2024 defeat. They lost because of a very weak and unpopular leader at the top whose poor communication skills allowed the opposition party to dictate what the Dem Party platform and agenda were to the American people.
Poop rolls downhill. Poop at the top of the hill is bad news for those downhill.
He was the one guy who could beat Trump in 2020 and he did. No one else would have.
The "one guy" lol. You do realize Trump was even less popular in 2020 than Biden was in 2024. Trump 2020 was as easily beatable Carter was in 1980.
If 77 year old Biden with his long history of immediate failure when running for POTUS is the "one and only guy" a major political party in a country of 335 million people can come up with to beat a candidate as weak as Trump 2020, then it's past time for that political party to be replaced.
Currently dysfunctional, yes, but we're not in replacement mode and no way in heck was Biden the one guy we could come up with to beat Trump in 2020. That's like saying Trump was the one guy who could beat Biden/Harris in 2024. Complete and utter nonsense.

To those of you obsessed with “trans”, you are the weird ones. And you’re being used to keep rich people in power who don’t care about you.
I live in what you would consider a “crazy” liberal area and I’ve raised children recently. I can count on one hand the number of trans people I know of, interacted with, or have seen in the past 10 years. Do you need a hobby? Why are you thinking about other people’s sexuality so much? It’s creepy and way more unhealthy and abnormal than what you insist is body “dysmorphia”. YOU are the freaks. Pay attention to the people telling you that they are a fraction of 1% of the population and not “taking over society” like Fox wants you to believe. Don’t let yourself be manipulated to hate people who simply want to life their life so that politicians and tech bros can get even richer.
Stop fighting the culture wars and you’ll notice this should be a class war.
Your opinion is a fringe minority view and no one respects it.
You are the minority. And maybe even a Chinese or Russian troll. If you’re an American, you’re being played for a fool. Or maybe you’re the kind of American who screamed at and harassed a black Kindergartener on her way to an integrated school for the first time.

Why anyone talks about the popular vote in a presidential election continues to befuddle me.

We are paying almost one trillion dollars only in interest every single year and our country is not sustainable without meaningful cuts to spending and no politician is up to the job.

I hate this line of thinking because it just feels like the left is being gas-lit. "Democrats made us vote for Trump by not putting up a better candidate"

We are paying almost one trillion dollars only in interest every single year and our country is not sustainable without meaningful cuts to spending and no politician is up to the job. Trump is willing to tak a bullet to accomplish such cuts even in the facw of swamp creatures striking back to continue the decades long grift.
The solution is to trim the DOD budget and remove the cap on revenue to social security and medicare. The DOGE "cuts" are not really cuts and do nothing but undermine our government. Cutting the IRS cuts revenues. Cutting the research grants removed the 10-1 benefit to our GDP. And so on...

People get swindled everyday. The surprise was that 49.8% of the population fell for it. The Dems did make it easier than it should’ve been, though.
