BLM protests were anything but peaceful. What you are seeing now is a pushback. Remember the couple in NYC who threw a Molotov cocktail into a police car? They were professional people and all they got was a slap on the wrist.
As for Selma. I remember that. The protesters were not violent. Big difference.

If a huge cohort of the population takes economic action, corporations would be under enormous pressure not to cozy up to Trump, for example. Democrats and independents as a bloc have huge spending power - easily enough to make a big impact

Strikes are hard bc an entire sector of workers need to co ordinate and have demands.
This is more of a broad issue. Strikes could work - but you’d have to get millions of people to either a. Not show up for work on certain days or b. Go on buying strikes where they - for example - don’t buy from any company that supports Trump
