It was all blown out of proportion by both sides in relation to the percentage of trans people in society. These people deserve to live their lives peacefully and without persecution. That being said, you can’t have it all and they should stay out of sports. Sometimes you don’t get everything you want. That is life.

However it’s disingenuous to say that Trump and the GOP are interested in protecting women’s rights. They aren’t. Trump is a sex offender. He has no respect for women. He has gone out of his way to strip the rights of women. He’s a convicted felon. He staged an attempted coup of the United States. He issued mass pardons for convicted felons. This man is not interested in helping anyone but himself.

Sure. But you don’t get to control how people think — a tough lesson indeed for DCUM Democrats — and as it turns out, a lot of the electorate doesn’t like what the Democrats have to say. You can stamp your feet all you like about how people shouldn’t care about trans girls in girls’ sports. That isn’t going to make them not care.

I sometimes think the rage trans activists and DCUM Democrats feel about the fact that trans rights has become such an issue is the rage of someone who has heard “no” for the first time in their life. It has an air of entitlement: what do you mean you care about this issue I have deemed unimportant? How dare you care about something that I, your better and your superior, do not consider important?

Dem entitlement in trans issues is even funnier than that. It’s “how are you even TALK about something that I, your better and your superior, consider an essential, non-negotiable policy AND too unimportant for others to be allowed to mention.

How about you stop obsessing over private parts, weirdo?

I honestly worry about their obsession with children’s genitals.

Seriously. Dems live talking to children about alternative sexual preferences and alternative gender identities. Only to “prevent hate” and “affirm LGBTQIA+ children” of course.

Seems to be predominantly MAGA, evangelicals, and government officials accessing “little girls AND boys.” https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTFikAP6MXDCJjWzgMIOvpsT1ji-HwO-rLEvNE8e-cfCGh0YHoZluIG5TEsmwFub7MzIDfh0XgvcWL8/pub

MAGA pastors should teach them you just have to work at a church if you want access.....so many MAGA pastors found guilty of raping children.

Lots of people will be absolutely delighted with this. And not just MAGA. Anyone across the county who feels Democrats are the party of elitists that demand total belief compliance from everyone. The people who think the Democrats stopped listening to voters. The people who resent Democrats telling them that they have to accept their entire orthodoxy or they are bad people.

You don’t understand it because you are a DCUM Democrat, almost certainly UMC or wealthy, almost certainly a woman, probably white. You are one of the people that everyone else resents because you’ve attempted to shove a belief system you think makes you the best person, better than others, down everyone else’s throats.

Just FWIW, I do not support Trump’s behavior here at all. But the hermetically sealed echo chamber that convinces themselves that everyone agrees with you is wrong here.

Trump is a generationally clever politician. He’s picked an issue where wealthy white Democrat elites are on the opposite side of the rest of nearly the whole country, and he’s using it as a way of demonstrating that the Democratic Party doesn’t listen to its voters, is out of touch, etc. So when he is demanding an apology, people see him as demanding an apology from a bunch of wealthy elitists who believe they are better than everyone else. They don’t see it as bullying. They see it as him fighting for the underdog against power structures and people that hate them.

This is impossible for most DCUM Democrats to understand, however, because it requires them to admit that they are wrong, and not superior people. It requires them understanding that their adherence to political orthodoxy and fundamentalism has alienated large swaths of the voting population. It requires progressives to admit that they are as religious as the fundamentalist Christians, just on different issues. And that’s never going to happen, so you will remain puzzled that most of the rest of the country doesn’t see this quote the way you do.

DP. I don't get it.

Can you show for me, EXACTLY AND SPECIFICALLY, where Kamala Harris or other major Democratic candidates running in 2024 had "put men in womens sports" as part of their campaign platforms or anywhere in their campaign speeches?

Show me something specific and maybe I'll start to get it. If not, maybe you can start to admit you're the one who's wrong and to acknowledge that the GOP ran a massive smear campaign claiming they did. Bob Casey for example lost because of that smear campaign and NEVER ONCE said a single thing about women in mens sports.

So either provide specific evidence if you want me to "get it" or back off and change course.

The fact that Biden tried to change Title IX to redefine sex as gender identity proof enough.
But, you can also add to that - 203 Democrats voted to allow biological men in women's sports instead of protecting women and girls.

You MAGAS are sick in the head. Seriously seek help

There’s nothing that Democrats have really offered the working class. Minimum wage is still 7.25 signed in the Bush years. Four presidents later after 12 years of Democrat presidents compared to only 4 Republican years, it’s still the same. To top it off, working class Americans see Democrats support free housing, cell phones, food for illegal immigrants who just hopped over the border to get here.

They have a right to be angry and support Trump but elitist Dems who have money cannot see this. They think the resentment for trans and illegals has to do with bigotry instead of the investment the Dems have placed on both. Dems are not invested in the American blue collar or minimum wage worker. They want automation and the war on carbon /green new deal which would gut the Midwest and auto industry and coal industry. Nobody’s taking a class to retrain to another career at 51 when they have bills and responsibilities. Dems don’t see that schooling and retraining are time and finance sensitive and not everyone has either to invest into a career change.

Tl,Dr: Dems are out of touch with American workers

That didn’t address equal pay. Quite the opposite. It didn’t even eliminate the statute of limitations, it just made it easier for a woman to sue for wage discrimination.

Kinda like “universal health care” aka the bailout to the health insurance industry: health insurance mandate in order to ensure record high profit margins for the insurance industry.

I will never understand why anyone thinks this is worse than the fact that Trump tried to overturn an election and inspired an insurrection. It is the pinnacle of whataboutism.

If course it’s not worse. But we refuse to let it go. Which is having terrible consequences for Our Democracy. We’re already 25% of the way to the midterms and most dcurban moms are fighting for trans athletes in girls’ locker riooms instead of dropping that temporarily so we can retake the house. Our priorities reveal that we care more about trans athletes than about saving America from Trumpism.

But are we?

I haven't read the whole thread, but are there a lot of posters advocating for that? I feel like this is an issue where Democrats are trying to prove a negative. The support for trans athletes in women's sports is not that widespread, but activists on Twitter and a couple of elected officials allow for every Democrat to be painted with a broad brush. Of course, it doesn't help that if you don't support everything trans you are called a bigot.

The only significant action Congressional Democrats have managed to take since Trump was elected was to unify to defeat the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. It’s hard to avoid the conclusion that fighting for the right of biological boys to compete against girls is the highest priority of the Democratic Party right now.

Why are trans issues your values? They’re only 1% of the population.

Why do we need to state gender in our bio? Shouldn’t it be obvious what we are looking at?

And not even conservative Dems ever express any doubts about the trans push, gender affirming care, men in the girls’ rooms, etc. Pushing something while denying you’re doing ut is unlikable behavior. Swing voters aren’t enjoying the lying from Democrats. It’s a home run for Republicans. It stinks. We’d all like to support trans athletes withoit paying any price for it at the ballot box. But we are paying a price. Maybe-it’s worth it. Trans folks are important.

Not only are they incoherent , they are actively sexist. Kamala proudly covered surgery for trans prisoners and gender reaffirming care to be covered by insurance for kids.

What about IVF? Can that be covered by insurance? trumps the only one I’ve seen even talk about IVF. There are more women than men in this country yet women still don’t have equal pay, any medical advancements to make things like childbirth any less difficult, but guys that want to be women are able to get all types of surgeries and science wants uterus transplants for transwomen. Meanwhile, C sections are as violently bloody and brutal as ever: a hole the size of a bowling ball is made to hack the baby out while a woman is pumped on drugs. This is the best modern medicine can offer women 60 years later?
